Forze nuove nel centrocampo della Juventus. La società bianconera ha ufficializzato un doppio acquisto: dall’Empoli arriva l’argentino Sergio Bernardo Almiron e dal Lione il portoghese Tiago Cardoso Mendes. Entrambi hanno firmato un contratto quinquennale fino al 2012.

Due ingaggi che permettono alla squadra (ma in particolare al reparto) di crescere sotto tutti gli aspetti: qualità, quantità, esperienza e apporto in zona gol.

Tiago Cardoso Mendes ha compiuto 26 anni lo scorso 2 maggio. Nativo di Viana do Castelo, è il quarto portoghese ad indossare la maglia bianconera dopo Rui Barros, Dimas e Paulo Sousa. Vanta un curriculum di tutto rispetto. Ha militato in club importanti, abituati a lottare per il vertice: Benfica, Chelsea e Lione, oltre alla nazionale portoghese. Nelle ultime tre stagioni, ha conquistato altrettanti titoli, uno in Inghilterra (con il connazionale Mourinho in panchina) e due in Francia. Ora è in Italia con la voglia di proseguire: “Sono qui per vincere altri titoli – sono state le prime parole dopo la firma. Sono felice della scelta. La Juventus è un grande club europeo, arrivarci era un sogno e ora l’ho realizzato”.

Chi invece il campionato italiano lo conosce molto bene è Almiron. A 27 anni (nato a Santa Fè l’8 novembre 1980), una fetta importante della sua vita l’ha passata nel nostro paese, dove è giunto nel 2001, ingaggiato dall’Udinese che lo prelevò giovanissimo dal Newell’s Old Boys. Udine e Verona sono state tappe per la sua crescita, fino alla consacrazione ad Empoli, dove ha contribuito (anche con i suoi gol, uno fatto a Buffon!) ad una promozione, ad una salvezza e ad una storica qualificazione alla Uefa. Ritrova Iaquinta e le sue prime parole assomigliano molto a quelle del compagno: “Sono qui per mostrare a tutti il mio valore, sono pronto ad affrontare ogni difficoltà. Ce la metterò tutta, come ho sempre fatto. E’ un nuovo punto di partenza della mia carriera, lo aspettavo da tempo”.
