I don't usually post news about Konami, but here's an interview that was conducted:
There are several issues with the new release but the ones I am mainlyconcerned about for our users is the Achievements on xbox 360 versionand Online play on both versions. Are you aware of how bad the onlinelag is at the moment both on the xbox 360 version and PS3 version? I amsure you have seen it for yourself and admit this needs to be fixed asa priority.
Yes the lag needs to be sorted out and is an issue we have been workingon since a week before official release when we were first made awareof the issues. To minimise lag, try to play against people from yourown country and turn all other Internet using equipment off.
Some people have reported seeing a goal go in but beein given a corner,or have seen a free kick go wide but was given as a goal, is this justall part of the lag and will it be fixed?
Yes it is, sometimes it will show on one persons screen as a corner,but the other as a goal, this is the game out of sync, this is the sameas free kicks and other situations where on one screen it goes out fora corner but the other it goes in, but we have heard of cases that onboth screens it did not go in but was still given as a goal, this isall down to the net code which is all part of the same lag issue whichwill be rectified with the patch.
Do you have a timescale on when the patch will be released for both versions?
We hope to have the patch released within two weeks at the latest, andhave set a deadline of monday 19th November to get this to the public,as we are aware there are a lot of gamers out there that are avoiding amassive part of the game (online play) because of the online issues.
Are you aware of the problem people scoring free kicks online and notgetting the achievement? Also several other achievements seem to begiven to some people but not others.
Yes this is another issue that will be resolved with the patch, wecannot understand why some people have been given the achievement butothers have not, we are currently working on a solution to this andwill issue a statement explaining why this happens in the near future.
There are a lot of dissappointed PES fans out there that have even tookthe game back and bought a certain other football game, what would yousay to them?
I would say to ALL PES fans to be patient with us while we rectify theproblems, please be assured that we are working very hard to fix theseproblems. We hope that everyone will soon be enjoying the online aspectof the game which people will love playing with their friends andfellow gamers

After phoning Konami UK this morning I can confirm that there is no PC patch being released in the near future.
The convo went something like this (without the swearing by me) Me - 'Is there any PC patch being released for Pes2008'
Them - 'We are still aware that some users are having problems online, and for this we are sorry'
Me - 'Does this mean a patch is being worked on ?'
Them - 'There are no plans to release a patch for 2008 on the PC'
Me - 'So I'm stuck with a S***Y game that I only buy for online play ?'
Them - '..............................................'
Me - 'Good F*****G answer'
Them - 'We are still looking into if we can improve the game'
Me - 'You already said that, I hope 2009 won't come with theseproblems, can you stick me onto the automated system you have, I mayget more joy outta that'
Them - '............................................'
Me - 'Thanks for your non-help, I'm off to play FIFA'
Them - '............................................' Konami - just gotta love 'em, aint ya ?

Pro Evolution Soccer creator Shingo 'Seabass' Takatsuka has revealedthat he's gone back to the drawing board for PES 2009 following thecriticism of the 2008 edition on PS3.
"It's so far from what we wanted", Seabass said of PES 2008 on PS3 inan interview with PSM3 magazine in its latest issue (#95), echoingwords said to CVG in October.
"In fact," he continued, "we thought about delaying it but different factors meant we had to [release it]".
"As a developer, we've worked the same way since the days of the SNES. We're simply not set up for multi-platform development".
But, asking us to look at the way the PS2 version panned out from thefirst to the last game, Seabass reassured that the development team iswell on course to follow suit on PS3.
However, the criticisms levelled at PES 2008 on PS3 have forced the series' creator back a peg or two with PES 2009.
"PES 2009 is in development, but after hearing the criticism, we'll betaking it back to the drawing board. It might not be next year, but it will be soon", Seabass explained.

I am not against one year without PES, under the condition that Konami makes a patch covering ALL problems.
Or first a patch to cover the online problems, followed by a second patch that solves the remaining problems.
They cannot leave us waiting for another year without solving the current problems.

Some Players were dissatisfied with PES 2008 and say that the gameplay has changed. What do you think about that?
It'sa matter of taste, just like every game and movie. That's absolutelynormal. Some people like it, some don't. We as a company can say: wehave released the best possible game at that point of time, with allthe limitations which exist during the development of a game.Furthermore you have to consider the quantity of the developing team,the time and so on. And of course we take the opinion of PES fansseriously. The diving feature in PES 2008 for example was postulated bythe fans and we implement such ideas as far as they are possible.
PES 2008 has still problems with online gaming. Why is that?
Inonline gaming there are hundreds of components you have to consider.There are too many complicated factors you have to take into accountwhen get involved in online gaming. And we are working hard to get ridof these problems.
