Blackburn Rovers have won the race to sign Roque Santa Cruz from Bayern Munich.

The 25-year-old has agreed a four-year deal at Rovers and will make the move to Ewood Park on 1st August.

Blackburn have beaten off competition from the likes of Manchester, Porto and Espanyol to land the Paraguayan international in a £3.4million deal.

Bayern were willing to let Santa Cruz leave as the likes of Luca Toni, Miroslav Klose and Lukas Podolski were all ahead of him in Ottmar Hitzfeld's pecking order.

Santa Cruz's signature will provide a massive boost for Rovers boss Mark Hughes who has been keen to add to his striking options ahead of the new season
