Dong in Asian Cup squad

United striker Dong Fangzhuo has been named in China's 23-man squad for July's Asian Cup competition.

Fangzhuo was one of five forwards selected by coach Zhu Guanghu and joins fellow England-based players Li Tie (Sheffield United) and Sun Jihai (Manchester City) in the side. Midfielder Zheng Zhi, who played on loan for Charlton this season, will captain the team.

Fangzhuo has played for China 11 times, most recently against the USA in a friendly earlier this month. His only international goal at senior level came against Switzerland in June 2006.

China begin their Asian Cup campaign against co-hosts Malaysia on 10 July. They will also face Iran and Uzbekistan in the group stage.
