Eto'o Is Top Target
Sir Alex Ferguson has identified Barcelona’s Samuel Eto’o as Manchester United’s No 1 summer transfer target. The United boss has said he hopes to make three major signings to strengthen the new Premier League champions and Sportsmail understands the first steps have already been taken to sign Cameroon striker Eto’o, 26, for around £27million. Pini Zahavi, the Israeli super agent whose son Alex is a youth team striker at Barcelona, is being enlisted to try to complete the deal, while Eto’o’s friendship with Rio Ferdinand — who interestingly is a client of Zahavi’s — is also thought to be a factor in United’s favour. Eto’o has been unsettled at the Nou Camp since a fall-out with manager Frank Rijkaard and team-mate Ronaldinho in February.

The transfer targets come thick and fast. The Mirror claims United will sign Sporting Lisbon winger Nani for £17.5million, and also speculates that United could be interested in activating Michael Owen's £9million release clause from Newcastle.
The tabloids all reveal that Cristiano Ronaldo has received a double apology - from Jose Mourinho for his taunts over the winger's education, and from Michael Ball for his stamp on Ronaldo during Saturday's Manchester derby.
Chelsea defender Ricardo Carvalho insists his side will honour United as worthy champions in Wednesday night's Premiership clash, before beating the Reds in the FA Cup Final.
Sir Alex Ferguson speculates that AC Milan will win the Champions League, and also reassures the Premiership's relegation strugglers that he won't field a weakened side against West Ham on Sunday.
