PES 2015 EDIT MODE DETAILS.
Well we have reached that point in time within the PES calendar year when the dreaded embargo is lifted and news regarding the latest PES instalment starts flying out faster than an Arjen Robben sprint, cut inside and curl into the far corner. With the usual criteria being Modes, player faces, licenses etc this year we had the opportunity to get elbow deep into the PES 2015 editing features. What's new? what's improved? And equally as important what's been removed, if at all? I shall outline every detail we were able to get hands on with. Please note we had a look at the PS3, PS4 and XBOX One versions of PES 2015 this year but chose the PS3 version to explore and test in detail so the following information will be based on this platform although a few ( I say a few for a reason ) details regarding next gen edit modes will be explained. To keep things organised im going to break each feature up into sections, so lets get into it:
TEAMS:
KITS: Image importing consists of 8 parts this year shirt front, shirt back, sleeves right and left, shorts right and left, socks front and socks back. Much like last year the shirt front image sits predominantly on the front but expanding over the shoulder to the highest part of the back of the shirt. New this year is the ability to add images to the back of shirts but be warned the front and back images are just that, front and back images. Unfortunately these images do not wrap around the circumference of the kit and leave a gap spanning from the under arm area down to the hem of the shirt ( for reference pics see the follow up post on the forum ) Sleeve images are the same as in PES 2014 except this year they wrap around the whole sleeve not leaving a gap under the arm, they DO NOT however cover the full length of long sleeve shirts. On the flip side shorts images are the total opposite wrapping around the front to back and covering pretty much the whole of the shorts only leaving the waist line exposed which we hardly see anyway. Finally we have the socks and heres where it gets interesting. The image you import onto the front of the socks on the right leg will automatically transfer to the left sock with the same applying to the back of sock images. As with last years game you can still add a third and fourth kit for your teams. The maximum number of kit save slots is unknown at this time.
IN GAME TEMPLATES: The in game kit templates are the same as in PES 2014 which has its pros and cons. Pros being we are all familiar with all kit templates already and will know what we can use for what kits etc. The cons being, well there are no new in game templates. The base kit templates are also that of PES 2014 these being crew neck, v neck, crew neck with collar and v neck with collar which unfortunately means no skin tight shirt models this year BUT the default shirt models in edit mode are a lot tighter than last year any way so this shouldn't be that much of an issue. Shirt name fonts and number types remain the same as last year.
CHANTS: As with last year we have the option to add a selection of chants to add a touch of realism to our game however this year something quite special has been included, team commentary names! yes a selection of intro / commentary names has been added that we can assign to teams. Team names consist of the names of cities and towns etc. so for example you will be able to assign the names Chelsea, Newcastle and Liverpool but Arsenal will not be possible as that isn't a town or city name. It is a tube station name however but its situated in Highbury...just thought i'd add that little fact ( Dortmund is included YAY ) I cant remember every team commentary name there was but trust me there are ALOT!
STADIUMS: You're probably wondering why i've placed stadiums under the 'teams' section? well when it was announced that stadium editor would be returning a lot of people including myself presumed it would be the same stadium editor which featured in PES 2013, it isn't. In fact PES 2013 featured a 'stadium creator' not editor ( the clue is in the name ) Sorry to have to break it to you all but the stadium 'creator' will not be returning and is replaced by the new "stadium editor" Well what's the difference you say? This year stadium editor is more of a team option rather than a full blown creative mode, you cannot create stadiums from scratch lets make that clear from the off. What happens now is under team you will be given a stadium option where you choose one of the already in game stadiums and have the option to rename said stadium, choose the seat colour, pitch design, pitch border colour and goal net design. This is only available to do on fake stadiums for obvious reasons. This is however possible for every team in game.
TEAM / STADIUM BANNERS: This is the ability to add a chosen slogan, team name, pretty much anything you want to a banner which will be scattered around your teams stadium, for example being a Newcastle fan i can choose the slogans 'howay the lads', 'toon army' and lets say the name 'Cisse' ( you can choose three ) and these will be displayed on banners around the stadium.
MANAGERS: Now we didn't get to spend loads of time creating a manager unfortunately but we did give them the once over and heres what we discovered. you can create and assign a manager for each team, creating his look and even import an image of him for team bio purposes ( for ML i think ) there are a number of managers in game already some have real names and some don't, if i remember correctly the north London manager was called something along the lines of Arden Vengol or there or there abouts, i forget. This is no issue though as fake managers names and look are easily changed the same way you would edit a fake player.
TEAM EMBLEMS: This is exactly the same as last year, we can add specific emblems to our desired teams but the emblems are a lot clearer than they were last year ( they were very pixelated in PES 2014 ) The maximum number of emblems that can be added is unknown at this point.
PLAYERS:
FACE BUILDER: This year the player face builder has returned to a more simpler form much like that of PES 2013 with the much welcomed return of player pre-set faces which are a set of pre made default faces which can be used as either start off points to build on or used as a players face all together especially if it resembles the player you are creating.
PLAYER HAIR: So, you've just created your players face and now need to add an appropriate hairstyle, well you not only have all the hairstyles from the previous instalment you now have new styles which include those of a number of in game players so if you want to give your player that Messi look you may do so.
PLAYER ACCESSORIES: As usual we are given a number of boots etc to complete a players look and as you may know this year brings the inclusion of goalkeeper gloves. There isn't really anything outstandingly new in terms of accessories to be honest although wrist tape actually looks like wrist tape this year and players can now equip long Johns to stay warm on a cold and frosty day. If you are unfamiliar with what long Johns are Arjen Robben tends to wear them when his legs get a bit chilly.
PLAYER BASE COPY: This year the base copying of players is available from the off and can be used on ALL players not just those that have been created.
LEAGUES / COMPETITIONS: No change here PES heads, we are still able to edit league and competition names, emblems and details as usual. The usual fake leagues are again included PEU, PAS and PLA leagues are ever present but the PDII ( fake second division ) has been removed.
....AND WHAT OF NEXT GEN EDIT MODE:
Well as you may know by now the importing of images will not be possible on next gen PES this being down to the fact that the PS4 and XBOX One doesn't allow storage of images on its consoles. All of the above which involves the importing of images will not be possible on next gen consoles and has therefore lead to the editing features being stripped back on next gen. This means there is no option to import images on the PS4 and XBOX One versions of PES 2015 reason being these areas could be cut back to allow work to go into other areas or simply put if it isn't possible to store images on next gen consoles then there's no point having an import image function in the game itself. Basic editing is possible using the in game kit templates and everything else applies, team renaming etc just the aforementioned isn't possible. |
