Manchester City have confirmed the signing of midfielder Patrick Vieira from Inter Milan.
Vieira, who is manager Roberto Mancini's first buy as new Citymanager, worked with the France international at the San Siro Stadium.
The 33-year-old former Arsenal star has penned a six-month deal at Eastlands and has the option to extend it for a further year.
Vieira is regarded as one of Arsenal's greatest players afterhelping the Gunners to three Premier League titles and four FA Cups.

And Mancini is happy to have Vieira on board, believing hisexperience will help City's cause. The manager is in need of a ballwinning midfielder after a season-ending injury to Michael Johnson andthe need to use Vincent Kompany as an emergency central defender.
He told the club's website: "Patrick is a world class midfielderwith a winner's mentality and will fit into this group very well.
"He knows me and my staff well, and importantly he also knows whatthe Premier League is all about. He will not need much time to settlein.
"Patrick is one of the great players of his era with every almostevery honour in the game against his name. I am sure City fans willwelcome him warmly and appreciate the contribution he will make."
Vieira needs as much match action as possible as he tries to earn aplace in the French squad for the FIFA World Cup in South Africa thissummer.
He began his career with Cannes and played briefly at AC Milan.TheSenegal-born midfielder then made 279 appearances for Arsene Wenger'sside winning three Premier League titles and lifting the FA Cup fourtimes. He was also an integral part of the Arsenal 'Invincibles' sidethat went unbeaten throughout the entire 2003/04 Premier League season.
In Italy with Juventus and Inter he won four league titles (one ofwhich was taken away from Juve), and two Italian Super Cups. Vieira has107 France caps to his name, having won both the World Cup in 1998 andEuropean Championships in 2000.
