Tottenham Hotspur have signed Portsmouth striker Peter Crouch for an undisclosed fee.

The England international has passed a medical and agreed personal terms and will now link up for a third time with Harry Redknapp who has already managed him at Portsmouth and at Southampton.
Crouch will also rekindle his Little and Large partnership with Jermain Defoe with whom he struck up a good understanding at Fratton Park.



A Pompey statement read: "We are sorry to see Peter go both as a player and a person and would like to thank him for playing a key role for keeping the club in the Premier League last season.

"His sale was necessitated by the club's commitment to repay scheduled debts while we are in a transitional period of completing the takeover.
"We will now be looking to add fresh faces to the first-team squad as soon as possible."


The 28-year-old moves to Spurs less than a week after turning down the chance of a move to Sunderland.
Crouch had travelled to the Stadium of Light and agreed personal terms with the Black Cats, but the deal fell through after the forward indicated his desire to remain in the south.
The move brings Crouch's career full circle. He started off as a trainee at White Hart Lane before moving for ￡60,000 to Queens Park Rangers where he scored 12 times in 47 appearances.
The six foot seven striker joined Aston Villa in March 2002, before moving to Southampton for the start of the 2004/05 campaign. His performances at St Mary's attracted the attentions of Liverpool and he moved to Anfield after just one season with the Saints for whom he scored 16 times in 33 matches, .
The striker, who began his career with the club as a trainee before signing for QPR in July 2000, made 132 appearances during three seasons on Merseyside and scored 40 times before returning to Pompey in July 2008.
The England international netted 16 goals in all competitions last season during his second spell at Portsmouth having previously enjoyed eight months at Fratton Park from July 2001 where he hit 19 goals in 39 matches.
