Roma coach Luciano Spalletti this afternoon gave his first press conference of the new pre-season, and he has promised fans that the club will sign a “great attacker” this summer.

The Giallorossi were the first Italian club to begin pre-season training on Thursday, and Spalletti likes what he has seen from his squad so far.

"The first sensations are good,” the ex-Sampdoria coach told the assembled media.

“The environment is great, the boys are all training with honour.”

Roma had a very disappointing season last term, finishing in sixth place and thus failing to qualify for the Champions League.

“The results were negative last season, but in these four years, Roma have won a number of important matches, against tough opponents by producing good quality football,” Spalletti stressed.

The bald-headed boss then moved onto the transfer market, praising new acquisition Stefano Guberti, ruling out a move for goalkeeper Matteo Sereni, before signalling his intention to sign a penalty box striker.

"Guberti is a player who we followed for a while, and he is a lad with promise,” he stated.

“The club is working, and we have to wait for the right moment. However, an attacker must be found. A prima punta.

“Matteo Sereni? I like the goalkeepers I already have.”

Finally, Spalletti was asked whether Andriy Shevchenko or Julio Cruz were two of the attackers he was trying to sign.

“I prefer not to name them, but they are certainly great players,” he concluded.

Roma Defender Simone Loria Joins Torino - Report
Roma have sent the Turin-born player on loan to his home town club, according to Sky Sport Italia...

Roma defender Simone Loria will be plying his trade in Serie B next season after the club reached an agreement with Torino for a loan deal.

Sky Sport Italia reports that Roma directors met with Torino officials in Milan this morning and following talks, all parties have reached an agreement over the former Siena man.

Loria joined the Lupi last year after impressing with the Robur. However, he failed to establish himself in the capital, making just 12 appearances all season. He featured nine times in Serie A, scoring one goal. Loria played twice in the Champions League, and just once in the Coppa Italia.

He will now head to Toro in order to help them climb back into Serie A after the were relegated on the last day of term. The details of the deal remaining undisclosed, and despite reports from Italy, neither club have made an official comment just yet.

The 63-year-old Italian last occupied a coaching role in 2001, when he was at the helm of Parma. He was director of football at Real Madrid between 2004 and 2005, but he has since been a pundit. Sacchi is now looking for a way back into the game and he sees potential of the Giallorossi.

Italy Under-21 defender Marco Motta is set to join Roma on a permanent basis following his loan spell there from Udinese, according to reports.

Motta joined the Giallorossi in February on a loan deal which expires this summer. The loan agreement included an option to buy the player permanently, and it seems the Lupi are in the process of sealing a deal. The stopper has impressed Luciano Spalletti and he has been offered a contract after Udinese and Roma agreed a fee.

Tuttomercatoweb.com claims Roma will pay Udinese around 3.5million to obtain the full rights to the player. The move will be seen as a major coup in Rome as reports suggested Juventus and Fiorentina were pushing for the defender.

The move comes less than 24 hours after the club signed Stefano Guberti from Bari.

Motta is currently in Sweden with the Azzurrini. Pierluigi Casiraghi's side clash with Belarus later tonight. a win will see them through to the next phase of the Under-21 European Championship.

As a potential change in ownership looms, Roma have already identified some transfer targets and will look to add some more power in attack, according to Tuttosport.

The lack of a pure striker has often been a problem for the capital club over the past few seasons, but should they become owned by the Swiss-German conglomerate headed by Vinicio Fioranelli, they will look to sign either Chelsea hitman Didier Drogba or Arsenal bomber Emmanuel Adebayor.

Over four years, Fioranelli is ready to invest between 欧元150-160 million in the transfer market and one of the African strikers is the first name on the list.

However, alternatives such as Real Madrid duo Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Gonzalo Higuain, as well as Milan veteran Andrey Shevchenko are being touted as alternatives, as the Premier League outfits may not let their star assets leave.

Roma struggled in Serie A last season, coming in sixth place and thus missing out on Champions League football.

Barcelona are stepping up their desperate chase to sign another world class central midfielder.

The Blaugrana have long been tied to Liverpool’s Javier Mascherano but with the Reds declaring that the Argentine is not for sale, and with Real Madrid threatening to enter the race, the Catalans are now prepared to turn their attention to Roma favourite Daniele De Rossi.

According to El Mundo Deportivo, Barca technical director Txiki Begiristain has added the 25-year-old to his shopping list once again this summer. The midfielder has already been tracked by Barca over the past few seasons and they almost landed him two years ago in what was Frank Rijkaard’s final campaign. Instead, it was Toure Yaya who ended up at the Camp Nou.

Current Barcelona trainer Pep Guardiola also requested the services of De Rossi last summer and he has once again expressed his interest this year. But like arch rivals Real Madrid, who are also reportedly keeping tabs on De Rossi, the Catalans are aware that the player has pledged his future to the Giallorossi and he will not leave the Eternal City regardless of who comes calling.

The Spanish paper believes that Barca’s only hope is to convince Roma, who are in the midst of economic uncertainty, to part with their star midfielder in exchange for a healthy amount of cash.

So far this summer, Barcelona have always been the first club to be linked with countless megastars, including Franck Ribery, David Villa, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Mascherano, but they appear to always drop out of the race for their signatures.

Barcelona are stepping up their desperate chase to sign another world class central midfielder.

The Blaugrana have long been tied to Liverpool’s Javier Mascherano but with the Reds declaring that the Argentine is not for sale, and with Real Madrid threatening to enter the race, the Catalans are now prepared to turn their attention to Roma favourite Daniele De Rossi.

According to El Mundo Deportivo, Barca technical director Txiki Begiristain has added the 25-year-old to his shopping list once again this summer. The midfielder has already been tracked by Barca over the past few seasons and they almost landed him two years ago in what was Frank Rijkaard’s final campaign. Instead, it was Toure Yaya who ended up at the Camp Nou.

Current Barcelona trainer Pep Guardiola also requested the services of De Rossi last summer and he has once again expressed his interest this year. But like arch rivals Real Madrid, who are also reportedly keeping tabs on De Rossi, the Catalans are aware that the player has pledged his future to the Giallorossi and he will not leave the Eternal City regardless of who comes calling.

The Spanish paper believes that Barca’s only hope is to convince Roma, who are in the midst of economic uncertainty, to part with their star midfielder in exchange for a healthy amount of cash.

So far this summer, Barcelona have always been the first club to be linked with countless megastars, including Franck Ribery, David Villa, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Mascherano, but they appear to always drop out of the race for their signatures.

Brazil left-back Andrè Santos has plenty of admirers in Italy and according to his agent the player could be signed for just £5m.

Santos has been a revelation at the Confederations Cup and helped the Seleçao trash Italy in the last group stage match.

“Roma are interested in him,” said his agent, Mario Grimaldi.

“They asked for information about him, but they are not the only ones. The player’s transfer fee is relatively low as he could be signed for just £5m,” he concluded.

Santos is 26-year-old and made his first appearance for Brazil in last week’s 4-3 win to Egypt.

Corinthians would be willing to sell him and the player has also raised interest in Spain and Germany as well.

As a potential change in ownership looms, Roma have already identified some transfer targets and will look to add some more power in attack, according to Tuttosport.

The lack of a pure striker has often been a problem for the capital club over the past few seasons, but should they become owned by the Swiss-German conglomerate headed by Vinicio Fioranelli, they will look to sign either Chelsea hitman Didier Drogba or Arsenal bomber Emmanuel Adebayor.

Over four years, Fioranelli is ready to invest between 欧元150-160 million in the transfer market and one of the African strikers is the first name on the list.

However, alternatives such as Real Madrid duo Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Gonzalo Higuain, as well as Milan veteran Andrey Shevchenko are being touted as alternatives, as the Premier League outfits may not let their star assets leave.

Roma Set To Sign Marco Motta Permanently - Report

The Giallorossi are about to add Motta to their ranks after agreeing a permanent deal with the player...

Italy Under-21 defender Marco Motta is set to join Roma on a permanent basis following his loan spell there from Udinese, according to reports.

Motta joined the Giallorossi in February on a loan deal which expires this summer. The loan agreement included an option to buy the player permanently, and it seems the Lupi are in the process of sealing a deal. The stopper has impressed Luciano Spalletti and he has been offered a contract after Udinese and Roma agreed a fee.

Tuttomercatoweb.com claims Roma will pay Udinese around 3.5million to obtain the full rights to the player. The move will be seen as a major coup in Rome as reports suggested Juventus and Fiorentina were pushing for the defender.

The move comes less than 24 hours after the club signed Stefano Guberti from Bari.

Motta is currently in Sweden with the Azzurrini. Pierluigi Casiraghi's side clash with Belarus later tonight. a win will see them through to the next phase of the Under-21 European Championship.

Former Milan and Italy coach Arrigo Sacchi has revealed he would like to return to coaching, pinpointing Roma as a club he would particularly enjoy taking charge of.

The 63-year-old Italian last occupied a coaching role in 2001, when he was at the helm of Parma. He was director of football at Real Madrid between 2004 and 2005, but he has since been a pundit. Sacchi is now looking for a way back into the game and he sees potential of the Giallorossi.

"If I was to return then I would like to guide this Roma team," Sacchi told Radio Radio.

"I think Roma is a team that can still give a lot."

The Lupi did not have the best of seasons last term. A number of injuries to key players plus crucial dips in form cost the side a place in the Champions League.

Roma Defender Simone Loria Joins Torino - Report

Roma have sent the Turin-born player on loan to his home town club, according to Sky Sport Italia...

Roma defender Simone Loria will be plying his trade in Serie B next season after the club reached an agreement with Torino for a loan deal.

Sky Sport Italia reports that Roma directors met with Torino officials in Milan this morning and following talks, all parties have reached an agreement over the former Siena man.

Loria joined the Lupi last year after impressing with the Robur. However, he failed to establish himself in the capital, making just 12 appearances all season. He featured nine times in Serie A, scoring one goal. Loria played twice in the Champions League, and just once in the Coppa Italia.

He will now head to Toro in order to help them climb back into Serie A after the were relegated on the last day of term. The details of the deal remaining undisclosed, and despite reports from Italy, neither club have made an official comment just yet.

【永恒罗马网】蒙特拉退役出任罗马青年梯队教练

      当地时间2009年7月2日，罗马俱乐部在自己的官方网站上发布公告，正式宣布蒙特拉退役，并出任俱乐部青年梯队教练。

      罗马俱乐部同蒙特拉原来的球员合同是2010年6月30日到期，经双方协商后决定提前终止此合同，球员选择退役。同时罗马俱乐部则聘请蒙特拉担任Giovanissimi Nazionali级别青年队（1994年龄段）主教练，双方签署了一份为期三年的教练合同。

      罗马俱乐部在官方公告中感谢了蒙特拉一直以来为球队做出的卓越贡献，并且表示期待蒙特拉在教练岗位上继续为罗马俱乐部带来帮助。

斯帕莱蒂召开季前第一次新闻发布会Roma coach Luciano Spalletti this afternoon gave his first press conference of the new pre-season, and he has promised fans that the club will sign a “great attacker” this summer.

The Giallorossi were the first Italian club to begin pre-season training on Thursday, and Spalletti likes what he has seen from his squad so far.

"The first sensations are good,” the ex-Sampdoria coach told the assembled media.

“The environment is great, the boys are all training with honour.”

Roma had a very disappointing season last term, finishing in sixth place and thus failing to qualify for the Champions League.

“The results were negative last season, but in these four years, Roma have won a number of important matches, against tough opponents by producing good quality football,” Spalletti stressed.

The bald-headed boss then moved onto the transfer market, praising new acquisition Stefano Guberti, ruling out a move for goalkeeper Matteo Sereni, before signalling his intention to sign a penalty box striker.

"Guberti is a player who we followed for a while, and he is a lad with promise,” he stated.

“The club is working, and we have to wait for the right moment. However, an attacker must be found. A prima punta.

“Matteo Sereni? I like the goalkeepers I already have.”

Finally, Spalletti was asked whether Andriy Shevchenko or Julio Cruz were two of the attackers he was trying to sign.

“I prefer not to name them, but they are certainly great players,” he concluded.
