Arsène Wenger will be able to choose from an unchanged squad for the crucial Premiership game with Bolton at Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
Speaking exclusively to Arsenal TV Online on Thursday afternoon, the Arsenal manager reported no new injuries from the trip to St James’ Park on Easter Monday. In addition, he refuted suggestions that sidelined striker Robin van Persie was likely to play a role later this season.
“The injury situation is that the players who were available against Newcastle are available again,” said Wenger. “We have not lost anymore but of course Henry and Van Persie are out.”
The Dutchman has been absent since mid-January with a broken metatarsal. Last month, Wenger effectively ruled him out for the rest of the season. He said Van Persie could be fit for the final game or two but would not be risked. Since then Arsenal have struggled and there were suggestions the 23-year-old might feature if Champions League qualification depended on it. However, according to Wenger, the situation has not changed.
“We do the maximum for him to come back but I don’t think he will be,” he said. “You never refuse a quality player when he is fit but I believe he will be very short. Too short I think.”
